first take a comb with a sharp tip on it, or one with a rat tail and figure out which direction you want your part to go in. Take the tip of the comb and place it at the front of your hair in the place where you want to start the part. With the comb on your scalp, pull the comb directly across in the direction you want your part. While you are pulling the comb, grab fly away hair and pull it away from the part. After you have your part going in the general direction you want it to go, take the comb and go back over the part a little at a time until you have it straight. If you are new at it, a rat tail comb may make it easier.

Flip your hair upside down. Take a comb with a pointy end and draw a part with it, from the top of your neck down to your forehead. Then push the hair to either side and raise your head again.
