if your dark brown is a neutral or ashy brown (no red highlights at all) it would probably be ok, but blue is best on black hair. if any red highlights, better to go with purples, burgundys or ruby highlights and tips. ps, black hair dye stays forever in your hair. been there.

Dark blue would look cool and will lighten to be soft blue. You should bleach it first if you want it light colored.

What you should do is

When you go to get it done

Ask for a hair color booklet

Then put the blue up to your hair and see if you like it...

Then put the black and blue together and see if it looks better.

Hmmm...are you sold on blue? Dark red, mahogany, or burgundy might look good. Talk to a good colourist and consider things like your eyes and skin tones. Remember that you will have to keep on colouring or touching up your highlights which can be $$$$$$$
