I have dark brown hair and want to go more for a warmer, lighter color (like a golden medium brown)

I don't want to destroy my hair, or turn it clown red...what's the best way to handle this?

I would go for honey colored highlights. You don't want to go to drastic or it'll look so par when it grows out.

Go a a salon, seriously. They're pros and will know what to use and how to use it so that it not only keeps your hair healthy, but that it's a good shade, too.

stylists and colorists will know how to do the best placement for highlights, too.

Get some fine highlights along your part and then on the sides esp if you like to pull your hair back. if you only get them on top you'll look like a skunk when you pull it back, bc there will be just one stripe. :-O

I'd suggest looking at pictures of celebrities with a similair hair color and skin tone to see what looks good with them and get ideas. Bring in a picture that you would like.

you could use sunaid or if you dont feel confortable with hair products like that sit out in the sun with your hair down

if all else fails get highlights they will make your hair appear lighter

Yes, go to a professional. I made the mistake of not going once and hated it. Its hard to do any lightening of brown hair.

just add some caramel highlights.. it will refresh your look for the summer without overcoloring your hair.

being out in the sun even just for an hour or two makes a difference. plus, people should get out more. if that doesn't turn out as planned, then get highlights that will be lighter than your hair but not so light that they're shocking against your hair. don't use hairdye though--some horrible disasters have happened from those.
